Are You an Introvert?

Have you ever wondered why some people would rather stay home and read a book while others want to find a loud party to attend every night? One way to describe this is the fundamental difference between introverts and extroverts. It could be that you are an introvert (33% of the population) and people that try your patience are extroverts (67% of the population)! The main characteristic of an extrovert is that they gather energy by being around people and interacting with others. Introverts, on the other hand, need a fair amount of time alone, quiet time to recharge. When introverts don’t have enough quiet time alone, they may become exhausted, crabby and out of sorts. When extroverts don’t get enough people/interaction time, they may become sad or depressed. We all tend to have characteristics of both, but most of us tend to feel more comfortable in one domain.

To find out which camp you belong to, ask yourself that basic question: How do I recharge my energy? By being alone or with others? If you answer yes to wanting time alone to recharge, do you feel you get that time or are you always feeling run down and tired? A little quiet time alone could make a big difference!
