Healing is like trying to untangle a knotted ball of string. The harder you force it to become untangled by tugging and pulling harshly – the tighter the knots stay bound and the more impatient and frustrated you get. However, when you approach that tangled sphere with patience and a gentle touch, the knots almost seem to untangle themselves. That is what recovery and healing is – learning to be patient and gentle with ourselves as we slowly work out the tangles of our lives and of ourselves.
